down time is good.

December 28, 2009

I don’t have any new stuff to show my blog friends, but really just wanted to share a little tidbit.

First of all, I forgot how much NOT working can be a completely renewing experience!! I love what I do, which is totally awesome, but I think sometimes when a job and a passion collide, if you aren’t careful, it can somewhat take over your life. I for sure hadn’t reached that point, but it’s just a good thing to be mindful of. So, in that regard, it’s been good to spend some quality time with friends and family instead of sit in this chair :)

Second, I just love my family. It was SO great to just be with family for the last couple days. After coming out of a really busy season in photography, it felt like a breath of fresh air to just sit and enjoy people I love.

Also, since we’ve been back in Lubbock, it’s been awesome to do the same with friends that are in town – just enjoy each other. Which brings me to our 8-foot-tall snowman, Harold.

So, if you’re still on break, then let me just remind you to let that lazy goodness take over, and truly enjoy those around you. And if you’re back at work already, well… then I hope you did that while you were on break :)

I’m headed out of town again in a couple of days, so I hope you all have a wonderful New Years!

brooke + seth – wedding

December 21, 2009

Brooke and Seth’s wedding was a perfect way to finish up my weddings of 2009.

For starters, they’re a precious couple. They chose to see each other beforehand, which means LOTS of fun pictures, and it was a be-e-a-uuuutiful day. I’m not sure why December has been so good to me and my camera, but I sure am glad :)

And another total bonus… Jennifer Bellah was in town for the wedding, and she assisted me throughout the day. She is one amazing woman, and having her by my side made my day a thousand times more enjoyable. Can’t thank her enough!

Anyhow, enjoy these highlights from their wedding this weekend.

hilary + matt – wedding

December 16, 2009

The first thing I knew about Hilary was that she grew up in another country as a missionary, and the first thing I knew about Matt is that he had dreads. Sign me up for THAT wedding!!

When I first met these two, I instantly could see that there was something special about them. Not only that they love Jesus and all, but that every aspect of their lives reflects that, and reflects Christ. It was such a special wedding to be a part of. God-glorifying, simple, beautiful, and refreshing.

And another SWEET part of the wedding day… Casey Lampert from Aric Alan Photography came along for the ride! She was awesome, and we only got asked if we were twins like 239083 times. Huge compliment, people, HUGE.

And one last thing, I promise. Julia Gill from Design Unique completely transformed the room where the ceremony/reception took place. She worked her magic and created something so special, and so perfect for Hilary and Matt.

Anyhow, onto the good stuff.

the gregg family

December 16, 2009

I know Erin through the wonderful world of Starbucks. She’s the manager of one of the stores here in Lubbock, and she also is in school getting her masters, AND she’s in the Goin’ Band at Texas Tech. Think she can squeeze anything else into her crazy life??

The answer is yes. They found time for a mini-session :)

copeland family

December 15, 2009

Ahhh, the Copeland family. Where to begin with these guys. I was a youth intern while Juju Bean and Trevor were in high school, I had the HONOR of getting to live with this family the summer before Jordan and I got married, and I even got to be Pam’s assistant in the Children’s ministry. So yes, many ties with this amazing family.

courtney – senior

December 14, 2009

Senior in college, that is. Yep, she’s graduating from Texas Tech this weekend, and I can hardly believe it’s already here!

Courtney’s name might sound a bit familiar to some of you blogsters, because she is not only the best second shooter ever, but she now has a photography business of her own. She has such a natural talent in taking beautiful photos, and working with people, and let’s face it… just working it in general. Here. See for yourself.
