Way to figure it out. 20 is full time for me, and the only way I’ll roll. When Devin retires and is home during the week, that’s when I’ll book more. I’ll be a 80 year old grandma out there dancing with my camera flash!

Good for you! I think so many photographers wear themselves out shooting too many weddings! If you get booked up, feel free to send some brides my way. I still have several dates open this year! Good luck with 2010!

Brittany, I don’t formally know you but I feel so connected to you right now, haha! I work by myself, no assistant and my husband isn’t on the “team” with me shooting and editing and I have made a firm resolution that if I’m going to have a life of my own, I will do no more than 20 weddings a year ever. And like you said, I love these couples and their happy stories, but the stories of our own lives happen on the weekends, with friends – not when we are alone the rest of the week behind our computers!
I also find that if you keep your numbers down, you do better work overall for each client. You can truly make them feel like they are the only client you’ve ever had and THAT can make a better impression and word-of-mouth sales than doing 50 a year.

Rambling on to say: Amen, sista! Keep up the awesome work and your new-found breathing space :)
